Board Members Needed

It has definitely been a year for the books and hopefully one that ends on a positive note with an adjusted, but spectacular basketball season.  As you know COVID19 cancelled our summer skills sessions and delayed our registration but we were able to offer opportunities for K-2, InHouse and Traveling this year. With that said, we need more adult volunteers to ensure this year, and future years success. Without volunteers RGBA wouldn't be able run our program.

Building Back the Board

Every year RGBA rolls over about 2-4 Board members as their terms end, their kids age out or life just changes so they can no longer commit to the board. This year is no different and we had several open roles this past year. In short, we need your help. Our vacancy board positions will be selected in November and the first meeting of the new Board is in December. All positions are considered open as they all need to be filled by March (due to turnover) in March of 2022. For those positions not immediately vacant (but absolutely necessary to be filled) interested parties can preview what the role is like during this season.  Please note, that this year in particular, we are rolling off our President and Vice President, and Traveling Director. The In-House Director and Treasurer have remained vacant in 2021-2022 (supported by the VP).  If these critical positions are not filled, we will not be able to offer a program.

Board Interest

If you think you might be interested in hearing more please fill in the Board Application Form. No obligation if you fill it in-we just want to know who might be interested in hearing more or possibly joining our board.

With several members leaving after this season we consider every role on the Board to be "Open" and wish to get the best people in a position to make the Board and the program as strong as possible. Please consider every role and think of it as "I could do that well"/"I could do that with some help"/"I can't or shouldn't do that".

What makes a person a good Board member? Interest in the kids in the program and willingness to share some of your skill, energy, and time in delivering the program to the kids and families who play with us. Specific on-court basketball knowledge is not required for all roles. Some roles require it, but some others require Social Media, Community Building, Web or accounting skills more than ability to run drills (for example).

We will hold a few informational sessions to give people some information about the specifics of the roles, how the process works, the specific skills needed, and the time commitment expected.  Those dates will be communicated once they are set but will be over the next couple of weeks.

Some benefits beyond bringing basketball to more girls includes: discounts on program registration, waived volunteer hours (fees) and a great group of people to work with. If you have questions that can't wait for the informational meeting, or would like information now please don't hesitate to reach out to me.

Thank you for your interest!

Naomi Lewis

President RGBA
